Joanne and Bob at Harmony House shared an interesting note about events in Nelson County. Thanks for sharing and letting others know about events they might want to tell their guests about.
Nelson County will be celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2007. Many things are planned including a Folk Festival April 21-22 at the Pharsalia Historical home built in the early 1800's. Costumed hosts will present food, beverage and music along with merchants, crafters and transportation of the time. Local Nelson County wineries will also be there. Joanne, president of The Nelson Quilters, will be presenting a bicentennial quilt to the county. The quilt will be unveiled at the first event of the Bicentennial - the Wintergreen Nature Foundation's Winter Lecture Series, on January 13, at 7 p.m. at the Rockfish River Elementary School, 200 Chapel Hollow Road, Afton. Maureen Corum, economic development and tourism director, and Helen Driver will be there representing the Bicentennial Committee.
The Charlottesville Area Quilters Guild (CAQG) will present Jefferson's Country Quilt Show X, on March 31 and April 1st at the East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Dept Rt 250 East at Glenmore Charlottesville. Sat 10-5p.m Sun noon -5p.m. www.avenue.org/quilts
